Ratatoskr Puuko Ultem “Ragnar-Rock”

These beautiful Ratatoskr Puukos have been in our range for years, constantly being refined and improved along the way. It's one of our most popular knives we sell, the Puuko which translated means little knife but don't let that fool you, has a 4" cutting edge which we think is the perfect size to get most jobs done.

In typical York Knife style this one has been made even more rugged and capable of meeting bad weather head on by the choice of material, ultimately giving you more peace of mind. We've made this one from the very tough material that’s popular with the EDC community, Ultem. It’s very eye catching looking, very much like amber with a laminated black G10 liner added to make it a little more subdued. We’ve held the scales on with marine grade epoxy and mechanically with 10mm brass tubes that have been flared for an immovable connection to the tang.

We've added our makers mark, the steel type and an abstract honeycomb pattern to complement the handle material. The underside of the spine is clear, meaning we can add you choice words, quote or message to a loved one, done for free by us, just ask and send details for what you want.

A utilitarian Kydex sheath wraps this one up, easy to clean, positive firm hold of the knife and capable of horizontal or vertical hang as well as left or right hand carry by simply unscrewing the belt clip and repositioning it to suit.

A very nice carver as you would expect from a Puuko, the Scandi grind makes these great for battening small logs (don't go crazy please). The Ultem is a very tough and shock resistant  material great to put on a "user" and our “Ragnar-Rock” pattern sculpting makes for a secure fit in had which is easily indexable for various cuts while being much comfier than it looks. Our spine is also left sharp to aid in scraping Birch bark for tinder and ferro rods for fire lighting.

The steel we’ve chosen is Sheffield made SF100  stainless, a UK made version of AEBL and  originally a  razor blade steel with decent toughness and edge retention without being ridiculously hard to sharpen, it requires only a small amount of maintenance after use simply wipe down with a bit of oil and a strop of the edge will see her right for the next time she is needed.

FAQs

PAYMENT

Once the knife is bought we complete with a quick I.D check to confirm you are over 18 years old, to keep us legal with the current laws around the sale of knives over the internet.

GUARANTEE

Our knives come with a common sense guarantee, covering craftsmanship and materials. This does not cover abuse or general wear and tear, for example, over time knives get dull and need basic sharpening and maintenance, carbon steel knives can pick up patina or rust if put away wet, left in damp atmospheres or generally neglected.

All of our knives are made by hand and as such none are perfect, if you look hard enough and study the knife intently, you may find the odd light scratch or blemish picked up in the making process. We call this character and it's what makes your knife yours, it will in fact pick up much worse over a short period of time through normal use and begin to tell its own story.
